PEPS - Parenting - Share the Adventure! 25th Anniversary

Overview

King County and the Program for Early Parent Support are proud to partner in a year long pilot program to support parents of young children in the workplace.  The program aims to bring together people who face similar challenges, stresses and joys to find support and further education on family health.

How it works

  • Groups are 8 -12 people

  • Groups are open to people with children newborn – 5 years

  • Meetings are weekly for one hour (often over lunch)

  • Meeting themes alternate weekly between Highs and Lows and a topic for discussion.  Highs and Lows are when meeting members, who so choose, share their parenting high point and low point over the past week.

  • Meetings are facilitated by a trained volunteer who is a King County employee

  • Facilitator Training-Facilitators participate in a two-hour training where they will receive instruction in group process: forming and facilitating a group, active listening, trouble-shooting difficult situations in groups, topic discussion techniques, overview of developmental milestones (birth to 5).

  • Meetings follow a curriculum that has been fine tuned over 25 years by the child development experts at PEPS

  • Meeting locations are based on employee interest

  • Members register directly with PEPS
