What's new in 2009
The Live Well Challenge is a game that continues to evolve. Here is a summary of the major changes for 2009: - New team categories
This year there are two team categories: - Traditional Team – consists of 3-10 members including one Team Captain. All team members must be King County employees (anyone who receives a King County paycheck).
- Couples Team – consists of one King County employee and their spouse/domestic partner (spartner). Only spartners who are covered by King County health benefits are eligible to play.
- Team members enter own activity
Previously Team Members provided their weekly point totals to their Team Captains who were responsible for reporting the point totals for the entire team. This year you are in charge of reporting what you do. Just log in at least once each week to record your activity.
- Record activity, not points
Instead of entering points each week, simply record what you do. Ate three servings of veggies? Walked for 30 minutes? Record it on-line and your points will be automatically calculated!
Coming in 2010More changes are coming to the Live Well Challenge in 2010: - The Live Well Challenge as an Individual Action Plan
Starting in 2010, the Live Well Challenge will be part of the Healthy IncentivesSM Program and participation will qualify as your Individual Action Plan. More information on this opportunity will be available later this year. If you have questions about your out-of-pocket health care costs or Individual Action Plan, please contact Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations at 206-684-1556 or kc.benefits@kingcounty.gov.
- Event timing
No dates have been set yet but in order to coincide with the deadlines associated with completing your individual action plan the Live Well Challenge will take place sometime between January and June of 2010.
- Earn virtual awards
This change will give everyone a chance to win! You will be able to earn up to six new awards each week. Review the Awards page for specific information about each virtual award and how to earn them in 2010.
