Mosaics Basics July 29, 2010 with Diana VinhInstructions for making simple garden mosaic stepping stones: - Gather supplies - concrete pavers of any size or shape, premixed grout or other goo to stick the mosaic pieces to the concrete. Talk with the people at the hardware store and see what they suggest. Whatever you choose needs to be water proof once it dries.
- Select the pieces you want to put on your paver. Be careful as broken pieces can have really sharp edges! You can use tiles, broken pottery or smooth edged beach glass are all nice. Decide on a rough lay-out as you need to put them into the goo quickly or it will harden. If you get a chance Bedrock Industries is fun to visit for their tumbled glass: http://www.bedrockindustries.com/tumbledglass.html
- Put the goo on the paver to a depth of about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch depending on how thick your decorative pieces are.
- Press in the pieces. Try to cover and sharp edges by pushing them in until the edges are covered.
- Let dry then put in the garden as accent pieces.
