Welcome to the Garden.  The Goat Hill Giving Garden was built in 2010 using salvaged and donated materials from the community, and the expertise and vision of King County employees.  Employees and our neighbors tend the garden on their own time, and expert employees volunteer to lead classes for their peers teaching everything from raised garden basics to how to grow tomatoes in the King County region.  Learn more about the garden.

The Goat Hill Giving Garden is the first of its kind for King County.  Ideas such as the Giving Garden succeed because of employee enthusiasm, dedication and support. Master Gardeners and dirt newbies alike are getting their hands dirty sowing seeds and weeding beds, learning from each other and donating produce to the Pike Market Senior Center.

What's Growing?

Our crop list was determined by volunteers, some of whom are also Master Gardeners, volunteers with the Seattle P-Patch Trust, and experienced in horticulture.  The crop list takes into account our growning season, what plants are high yielding, and what the Pike Market Senior Center and Downtown Food Bank can use.

Onsite Classes

Want to learn about edible gardening?  Our expert volunteers hold mini-classes onsite (15 - 45 minutes depending on topic).   If you're interested in hearing about classes, email us to be added to the distribution list.  All classes meet onsite at the garden unless otherwise noted.

Get Involved

Volunteers are needed to tend the garden including watering, weeding, and harvesting.  If you're interested in volunteering, send an email and let us know.

All volunteers must sign and return a waiver to participate in active gardening.  Visitors to the site do not need to sign the waiver.
