Welcome to your one-stop resource to gold!

Every year as part of the Healthy IncentivesSM  program, King County employees have the opportunity to take a wellness assessment as their first step to earning the gold out-of-pocket level (the lowest level) for their medical expenses the next year. The wellness assessment asks health and lifestyle questions and provides a health summary report. Your out-of-pocket expense level is determined by taking the wellness assessment and completing an individual action plan—it is not determined by your health status or lifestyle score.

A special welcome to deputy sheriffs

2009 is your first year participating in the Healthy IncentivesSM program as a member of the King County Police Officers Guild.

For 2009, you and your covered spouse/domestic partner will automatically receive the gold out-of-pocket expense level for your medical benefits. However, you and your covered spouse/domestic partner both need to participate in the Healthy IncentivesSM program in 2009 to earn your out-of-pocket expense level for 2010.

Healthy IncentivesSM deadline has come and gone – what’s next?

The June 30 deadline for completing your participation in this year’s Healthy IncentivesSM program has passed.

By now, you should have received a letter from Healthways notifying you of your out-of-pocket expense level for 2010. If you haven't received a letter, call Healthways at 1-877-279-0624 as soon as possible.

If you disagree with the out-of-pocket expense level you receive in your letter, you may appeal that determination by first contacting Healthways between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 at 1-877-279-0624.

If you disagree with Healthways’ decision concerning your appeal, you may then ask the county for an additional review. However, the county will not consider an additional review if you have not first appealed to Healthways.

To ask the county for the additional review, submit a Healthy IncentivesSM Appeal Request Form to Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations, Chinook Building CNK-ES-0240, 401 Fifth Ave., Seattle, WA 98104-2333. You can ask Healthways for the form, or you can find it under “Quick links” on the right side of this page. You must submit the form no later than Sept. 15 for it to be considered. The decision by Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations is final.

For other questions about the Healthy IncentivesSM program or your benefits, contact Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations at 206-684-1556 or kc.benefits@kingcounty.gov.
