General Election
underway, watch live and online!King County Elections now offers
election cam
Anyone can watch ballots being opened at King County
Elections through a new, live webcam that displays activities at the Elections
office. “We know voters are curious about how their ballots
are handled once they’ve been voted and returned,” said Sherril Huff, Elections
Director. “Our election cam allows anyone to view the ballot opening part of the
process from the convenience of their own computer,” The election cam
displays activities in the “opening area” at Elections headquarters. On Friday,
more than 20,000 ballots will be processed through this area beginning at
8:30
a.m. Ballots are opened and inspected once the voter’s
signature on the return envelope has been verified. After opening, ballots are
routed along to additional steps of processing, which are described in the “How
to vote by mail” video. King County is the largest county in the
U.S. to conduct elections entirely by mail, and the
department predicts more than 700,000 ballots will be processed this election.
The election cam will be activated ‘round the clock
on the King County Elections website until the election is certified on Nov.
23. Go to www.kingcounty.gov/elections to
access the webcam or for more information about elections.
