Sept. 2, 2009 August primary certified
King County Elections this morning certified the results of the Aug. 18 primary. Final results are posted online at http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200908/results.aspx.
“Our first all-mail primary went very well,” said Sherril Huff, Director of King County Elections. “Our new equipment enabled us to tabulate and report a much greater percentage of ballots on Election Day. Voter turnout was in line with our projection for an odd-year primary and voters did a good job of following directions and contacting my office with their questions.”
In King County, 353,239 ballots were cast, for a turnout of 32.19 percent of the 1,097,463 registered voters.
King County’s post-election, random audit of 4 percent of accessible voting units (or electronic voting equipment) used at accessible voting centers resulted in a perfect match between the electronic vote totals and the paper audit trail. To date, all manual audits of King County’s accessible voting units have been 100 percent accurate.
The electronic canvass of results, broken down by precinct will be available online at http://www.kingcounty.gov/elections/results.aspx on Tuesday, September 8 by 4:30 p.m.
With the August election certified, two mandatory machine recounts in the City of Woodinville Council Position No. 7 and Kent School District No. 415, Director District No. 5 races will begin on Tuesday, September 8.
