Feb. 20, 2009 Pilot program introduced for March 10 special election to provide accessible voting for all
Voters in the Auburn, Snoqualmie Valley and Vashon school districts will soon get to experience the new accessible voting service to be piloted for the March 10 special election.
The short-term accessible voting center provides equipment for voters to cast an audio or touch-screen ballot in English or Chinese. With large font, high contrast and a key pad device, voting is made easy for voters with disabilities.
Ballots for all registered voters in the three school districts were mailed on Wednesday, February 18, to approximately 67,000 voters total.
In addition to the accessible voting center open at the Elections Office in Renton, a team of Elections staff will travel to the three communities with measures on the ballot to open an accessible voting center on the following dates and times.
