King County Executive Dow Constantine today issued the following statement after the Washington Huskies lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
"As a Husky who has attended games for nearly 50 years, I can attest that this team was something special. Making their first national playoff berth, the Huskies surpassed high expectations this year, dominating the Pac-12.
"Featuring the speed of John Ross, the precision of Jake Browning, the grace of Myles Gaskin, and the toughness of Taylor Rapp and Budda Baker, this team showed how college football can unite the community, connect generations of fans, and give us all something to cheer about.
"Although today’s game didn’t end as we would have hoped, the Huskies showed the nation that the UW is once again a national powerhouse. With one of the nation’s best recruiting class coming in, we are sure to sing the glory of Washington forever."
