Need a passport? No appointment necessary on “Passport Day in the U.S.A.”

Summary

King County will open two Community Service Centers for weekend hours on Saturday, April 9, to accommodate residents who might not otherwise be able to apply for a passport in person during the work day standard hours.

Story

Because of a possible government shutdown, the Department of State has cancelled “Passport Day in the USA,” which had been scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2011. We regret that this event cannot take place as planned. More information is available via the US Department of State (external link)

King County will open two Community Service Centers for weekend hours on Saturday, April 9, to accommodate residents who might not otherwise be able to apply for a passport in person during the work day standard hours.

In 2010, a change in law took effect that requires all U.S. citizens to present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. Those entering from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda at land borders and sea ports-of-entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.

King County is joining with the U.S. Department of State to help citizens with their passport applications on "Passport Day in the U.S.A." Two King County community service centers will be open for this special event.
