March 30

This week crews excavated 1/3 of the unsuitable soils. By April 1, they expect to place toe rock which will give them the foundation to start building the slope back up for next week.

March 27

Slide repair work along NE 124th Street continues. Over the weekend crews removed brush and asphalt, and created a platform/access ramp for the excavator and dump trucks to reach the lower elevations. This week they will remove unsuitable soil and place rock to stabilize the slope.

March 24

Crews began slide repairs on NE 124th Street on March 23. The first day of work included removing trees and extending pipe for a wider lane through the work zone. The work runs Monday through Saturday, from about 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists should expect midday road closures up to 30 minutes. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. The repair work will last about three and a half weeks.

March 22

Beginning Thursday, March 23, crews will begin slide repairs on NE 124th Street. The work will take place daily from about 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. No work will be conducted on Sundays. Motorists should expect midday road closures up to 30 minutes. Flaggers will be on site. The work is expected to take approximately three and a half weeks.

March 21

Crews will be onsite this week working on staging areas for equipment. This includes prepping the shoulder areas with gravel and mobilizing construction equipment. We will let you know when the repair work is expected to begin.

March 17

On Monday, March 20th, crews will stage equipment near NE 124th Street in preparation for repairs. We will keep you updated on when repair work is anticipated to begin.

March 14

Roads is working on the necessary temporary road construction easements and permits. We will keep you updated on when repairs will begin.

March 10

Today crews replaced two stop signs at each end of the slide area along NE 124th Street with temporary traffic signals. The signals will regulate traffic through the one lane restriction. We will keep you updated on when repair work along NE 124th Street is anticipated to begin.

March 9

Expect to see crews today at NE 124th Street. They will evaluate site placement for two temporary traffic signals. The signals will be installed on Friday, March 10 in each direction to regulate traffic through the one lane restriction. A flyer box is also at the site which contains Roads contact information and a link to this webpage.

March 8

On Friday, March 10th, crews will install a temporary traffic signal in each direction to regulate traffic through the one lane restriction. They will replace stop signs at each end of the slide area along NE 124th Street and will be operational by mid-day Friday. Engineering staff are still finalizing repair plans and coordinating equipment, materials and staff. We will keep you updated on when the repair work is anticipated to begin. Roads staff have been in continued communication with the school district and fire district to coordinate efforts.

March 7

Engineers have evaluated the samples collected from the February 25th and 26th geotechnical drilling that took place along NE 124th Street. Design plans are being finalized and we expect to know more tomorrow (March 8). We will post an update when we receive the information.


March 3

February 28

The geotechnical drilling work along NE 124th Street is complete. Samples were collected last Saturday and Sunday. Geotechnical engineers are now analyzing the samples to determine next steps. The roadway remains restricted to one lane with resident access only.


February 26

Additional geotechnical drilling will take place on Sunday, February 26th along NE 124th Street to collect samples. The work will finish at approximately 3 p.m. No lane closures are expected.

February 24

Reminder: On Saturday, February 25, expect up to 60 minute delays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On that day, engineers will conduct geotechnical drilling. They will collect core samples to determine next steps. In addition, the normal school bus route will resume beginning Tuesday, February 28.

February 21

Beginning Wednesday, February 22, full road closures will take place on NE 124th Street east of Highway 203 and near Duvall for emergency drainage repair work. From February 22-24, expect up to 30 minute delays from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The closures involve adding additional temporary drainage repairs on the hill side of the road. On Saturday, February 25, expect up to 60 minute delays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On that day, engineers will conduct geotechnical drilling to determine next steps for permanent repairs.

February 17

Crews are closely monitoring NE 124th Street and assessing the damage. The roadway is restricted to one lane with resident access only, but it could close unexpectedly. The county is coordinating with emergency responders. Red Cross and other support services are available should they be needed.
