Sound of baby crying leads to dump truck search- No baby found

Summary

King County Sheriff’s deputies and Eastside Fire and Rescue spent part of the day searching a dump trailer for a baby after a citizen thought she heard the sound of a baby crying coming from a dump truck. (C17013157)

Story

The incident started near Algona when a woman at a stop light thought she heard the sound of a baby crying coming from a residential dump truck that was also stopped at the light.  The woman called 911 and Algona P.D. responded to the transfer station on West Valley Hwy where the truck was headed.

Algona PD was able to locate the dump truck in question but learned the contents had already been dumped into a trailer that was headed to the Cedar Grove Landfill in the 16600 block of 228th Ave SE.

King County Sheriff’s deputies and Eastside Fire responded to the Cedar Grove Landfill around 1:30pm and were able to locate and contain the trailer.  The trailer was placed on its side to allow fire personnel to search it safely.  After a thorough search a baby was not located in the trailer.
