Sentencing in Fatal Stabbing at Bellevue Burger King:  A 38-year-old man will be sentenced this afternoon for the fatal stabbing of a man at a Burger King restaurant in Bellevue on August 17, 2014. The defendant, Steven Padilla, pled guilty earlier this month to a charge of Murder in the Second Degree with a deadly weapon enhancement. Witnesses said the victim, Jose Arias, 65, appeared to be sleeping when Padilla walked up and stabbed him. The defendant’s sentence range is 13 to 21 ½ years in prison, which includes a 24-month deadly weapon enhancement. Prosecutors will recommend 21 ½ years in prison. Today’s sentencing is at 4 p.m. before Judge Laura Inveen in courtroom W-864 of the Courthouse. The case was handled by Senior Deputy Prosecutor Wyman Yip and investigated by Detective Jerry Johnson of the Bellevue Police Department.
