Drywall Contractor Sentenced in Theft Case

Summary

State v. Dathan Lavell Williams

Story

Drywall Contractor Sentenced in Theft Case: A Seattle drywall contractor was sentenced today to three months in jail (work release) and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine for obtaining construction contracts through a pattern of deception and fraud. The defendant, Dathan L. Williams, who owned JRW Structures, pled guilty in July to two counts of Theft in the Second Degree and one count of Offering False Instrument for Filing or Record. Both are felony charges. Williams, 33, admitted to obtaining contracts for the Moses Lake Civic Center and the U.S. Postal Service Bellevue Carrier Annex by means of deception by lying about paying his workers prevailing wage and to filing a falsified certified payroll document with the U.S. Postal Service. The matter was referred by the Pacific Northwest Regional Carpenter’s Union and investigated by the Seattle Police Department and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. The case was handled by Senior DPA Amanda Froh and paralegal Monicka Ly-Smith.
