King County TV Justice Files: The Case of State v. Martin David Pietz

In November, Martin David Pietz was sentenced to 18 years in prison for killing his wife Nicole and dumping her body in a wooded area in Burien in 2006. A jury convicted Pietz of Murder in the Second Degree as charged. The case was solved through the hard work of King County Sheriff’s Detectives Jake Pavlovich and Mike Mellis. Prosecutors argued in court that smaller details in the case became a mountain of evidence against Pietz, such as his affairs and a mouth guard found on Nicole’s body that she never wore outside the house. Senior DPAs Carla Carlstrom and Kristin Richardson secured a conviction in the case and brought justice for Nicole and her family. King County TV recently produced an interesting story on the case and the efforts of prosecutors and the King County Sheriff’s detectives.
