Arraignment for Man Charged in Redmond Murder

Summary

State v. Daniel James Haggart

Story

Arraignment for Man Charged in Redmond Murder: A Redmond man was arraigned this morning and entered a not guilty plea to a charge of Murder in the First Degree in connection with the stabbing death of Cara Neil, 17, in Redmond on July 18. The defendant, Daniel J. Haggart, 25, was initially charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, but the victim died from her injuries on July 23 and the charge was amended to murder. The stabbing allegedly followed an argument Haggart was having with his girlfriend. When Neil came to the defense of the defendant’s girlfriend, Haggart became angry at Neil and allegedly stabbed her in the chest. The defendant remains in jail with bail set at $1 million. A case setting hearing is scheduled for August 20 at 1 p.m. in courtroom 1201 of the King County Courthouse.
