Repairs to King County levee along Green River require trail closure through area

Summary

Levee repairs along the Green River will require a four- to five-week closure of a quarter-mile stretch of King County's Green River Trail in Kent.

Story

Upcoming work to repair and strengthen a King County levee2016_briscoe_crest_closure_map along the Green River in Kent requires the temporary closure of a short stretch of King County’s Green River Trail.

Beginning Monday, June 6, crews will start making repairs to the Briscoe Levee, including replacing damaged and failing pavement on the Green River Trail, which runs atop the flood-protection levee through the Green River Valley.

The work is expected to last for four to five weeks, and during this time a quarter-mile-long stretch of the Green River Trail will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, between the South 200th Street bridge and South 190th Street in Kent.

There will be no signed detour around the closed stretch of trail, and trail users are encouraged to explore other portions of King County’s regional trail system. Get additional trail closure information by following #GreenRiverTrail @KCDNRP on Twitter or like the King County Rivers page on Facebook.
