We have a variety of programs and services available for different individual situations, including job skills training, vocational education, GED attainment and job placement.

Adult Services

  • Job fairs, employment workshops and other employment resources for all job seekers (WorkSource)
  • Individualized employment services for job seekers experiencing difficulty accessing the job market
  • Business services for employers available through the WorkSource System

  • Education and employment training for in-school youth struggling to pass classes and/or youth at risk for dropping out
  • Skills development for out-of-school youth in need of a GED
  • Programs for justice-involved youth or youth at risk for being justice-involved

Education and Employment Resources also has a critical role in developing economic and workforce opportunities in our local region. We play a leadership role in the Seattle-King County WorkSource System and are a significant partner in King County's Communities of Opportunity Initiative.

Grant application announcement

The Department of Community and Human Services intends to apply for the Environmental Protection Agency FY 17 Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWDJT) Grant through its King County Jobs Initiative Program (KCJI). KCJI intends to outreach to the community in and adjacent to the Duwamish River who are unemployed and provide necessary training in Hazardous Materials cleanup and place in livable wage jobs.
