Judge David Steiner
Judge Steiner was appointed to the District Court bench in 1996 and currently presides over criminal cases at the Redmond Courthouse. Judge Steiner served as the President of the Washington State District and Municipal Court Judge’s Association (DMCJA) in 2015 and 2016. He also served as the King County District Court Presiding Judge from 1999 to 2001.
While serving as the Presiding Judge, Judge Steiner led the team that created the King County District Court Domestic Violence Courts and also helped create the King County Work Crew jail alternative. From 2002 to 2004, Judge Steiner presided over domestic violence cases in the King County’s East Division Domestic Violence Court. Judge Steiner currently serves on the Washington Domestic Violence Perpetrator Treatment Program Advisory Committee and is also a member of the of the King County Domestic Violence Initiative Regional Task Force (DVI).
Judge Steiner has taught new judges in Washington State’s Judicial College for fifteen years. He also began serving as a facilitator at NCJFCJ domestic violence judicial training programs in 2001 and in 2016 became a faculty member.
Judge Steiner is a graduate of the University of Washington (BA) and Seattle University Law School (JD).
