Pregnancy Leave

Your rights and responsibilities

The Pregnancy Leave Guide explains the different types of leaves available to county employees for childbirth or pregnancy related conditions. The guide includes basic information as well as the four most common scenarios associated with pregnancy or childbirth. Click the link above to review the guide.

Information specific to DAJD includes the ability of pregnant Correction Officers, Sergeants and Captain's to also use their short term disability benefits (STD) while off on a pregnancy leave. Please contact Human Resources at 206-205-9517 to discuss how you can coordinate your paid and unpaid leave with minimal impact to your seniority, service retirement accruals and county paid benefits.

Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS)

Parents of kids ages 0 to 5, King County and Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) are throwing you a lifeline!

There is now support for parents who are struggling to balance the needs of family, the demands of work and their own health and well being. To support parents of young children in this unique stage of life, the county is partnering with the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) to offer a support and education program for parents of young children. For the first time ever in King County, this program, which has traditionally been home-based, will be offered in the workplace for King County employees.

This pilot program marries the county’s innovative work on health and work/life balance. The cost for the 12 week session is usually $125, but PEPS is offering a special rate of $99 for King County employees.

To register for a meeting go to http://www.pepsgroup.org/register-for-peps/registration-form, and under type of group click "Affinity – KC".
