- Integrated Regional Jail Initiative
The Integrated Regional Jail Initiative seeks to foster regional cooperation in the provision of jail services for all King County jurisdictions. Working in partnership with the cities of King County, the Integrated Regional Jail Initiative's goals are to:
- Ensure sufficient jail capacity for the region
- Improve public safety
- Provide appropriate alternatives to detention
- Minimize liability for jurisdictions
- Reduce jail costs
- Eliminate duplication of services
- Improve communication and information sharing
The Integrated Regional Jail Initiative is currently completing a series of studies to determine the future need for jail beds and alternatives to secure detention in King County through the year 2024 and to identify options for meeting those needs. In future phases, the IRJI will explore ways to streamline and coordinate jail services with it's partner jurisdictions.
