Contract Services
In February 2003, the Metropolitan King County Council authorized an interlocal agreement between King County and contract cities for jail services. The King County cities involved in this agreement include: Algona, Auburn, Beaux Arts, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Bothell, Burien, Carnation, Clyde Hill, Covington, Des Moines, Duvall, Federal Way, Hunts Point, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kirkland, Lake Forest Park, Maple Valley, Medina, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Normandy Park, North Bend, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, Sea Tac, Seattle, Shoreline, Skykomish, Snoqualmie, Tukwila, Woodinville, and Yarrow Point.
The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention also contracts with several outside agencies for bed space, including Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC), U.S. Marshals Service, and Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration (JRA), among others.
