Speaker's Bureau

King County Superior Court has established a Speaker's Bureau, as a resource for community groups to interact with and learn more about the Court. The Speaker's Bureau can arrange for a Superior Court judge or commissioner to speak to a group about the Court or justice system issues, upon request and at a mutually convenient time. These engagements will be an opportunity to increase public understanding of the justice system, as well as for the Court to learn about community interests and concerns regarding justice matters.

Speakers can address topics such as:

  • The role of the justice system in society
  • An overview of King County Superior Court functions and programs
  • Specific legal issues such as drugs, family law, juvenile justice, probate
  • The role and responsibilities of jurors
  • How the Court supports access to the system for people who do not have attorneys or speak limited or no English
  • Loss of voting rights and requirements for restoration
  • How the Court is funded and how funds are used
  • Volunteer opportunities within the Court
