Caseflow

The court uses four measures to assess how well it is handling the flow of cases through the court.  These measures may be defined as follows:

  • Filings:  New cases initiated in King County Superior Court in a specific year.

  • Clearance Rate:  The number of cases resolved in a given year as a percentage of the number of new cases filed.  Clearance rate measures whether the court is keeping up with its incoming caseload.

  • Time to Disposition (Age of Disposed Cases):  The percentage of cases disposed of, or otherwise resolved, within established timeframes.

  • Age of Active Pending Caseload:  The age of cases pending before the court measured as the percentage of cases that have exceeded state recommended guidelines.

By following the Criminal, Civil, and other links below, you can find information on these four measures by case type.
