RULES TO REVIEW BEFORE CALLING

  • Motions Without Argument:  Local Rule 7(b);
  • Trial Continuances: Local Rule 40;
  • Summary Judgment: Local Rule 56 & Civil Rule 56.
  • Change of case assignment, consolidation of cases, or reactivation of cases with new judge and case schedule: direct to the Chief Judge, per Local Rule 40.

Judge Middaugh operates in an FTR Gold courtroom, which digitally records proceedings.  There is no court reporter.  The following web link from the Clerk’s Office provides the information you will need to obtain a copy of the CD for your hearing and transcriber information:  http://www.kingcounty.gov/sites/courts/Clerk/Records/~/media/courts/Clerk/docs/request_CD_recording_2.ashx.

SETTLEMENT CONFERENCES:  Please email the court with specifics about the case and the deadline for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

PLEASE USE E-MAIL FOR SCHEDULING, IF POSSIBLE.  E-mail must include the following:

  • Case name and cause number
  • Names and phone numbers of all counsel
  • Type of hearing and trial date

When sending correspondence to the court, please make certain to include a courtesy copy to the opposing party in order to comply with the rule prohibiting ex parte contact.  (Review the court's email policy.)

E-mail inquiries generally receive more prompt responses than phone messages.

Pleadings exceeding 1.5 inches should be bound and submitted in a three ring binder.
