RULES TO REVIEW BEFORE CALLING

Motions Without Argument: Local Rule 7(b); Trial Continuances: Local Rule 40; Summary Judgment: Local Rule 56 and Civil Rule 56.
Change of case assignment, consolidation of cases, and show cause hearing confirmation inquiries should be directed to the Chief Civil Department.

PRETRIAL CONFERENCES

Conferences are typically set 4 to 6 weeks before a trial date. The hearing is mandatory for all cases unless waived by the court. The hearing typically lasts for 15 minutes or less and is intended to determine the status of the case, whether it is ready for trial and if there are any special issues/needs associated with the case (such as interpreters, out-of-area witnesses). It is not intended to resolve any issues or conflicts connected to the case. You must confirm your attendance at the hearing in advance. While a phone call is acceptable, the preferred confirmation method is via email. If you are not an attorney and you are representing yourself please arrive early so that you can fill out the required “Notice of Appearance Pro Se” form before the hearing begins.

After the hearing, parties will be provided a copy of the order while they are in court or via email/fax if they have participated in the hearing by phone. A blank order is available for printing if you would like a form to follow along with during the hearing.  Blank Order
