2007 Innovations in American Government Award - Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation, Harvard University

The Electronic Court Records program offers tangible results that innovative government leaders can improve public services to their citizens.

-- Stephen Goldsmith, Director, Innovations in American Government Program, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government

The Harvard's Ash Institute Innovations in American Government Award Program identifies and promotes creative problem solving in the public sector through a national awards program that each year confers broad public recognition and monetary grants on innovative government programs.

In 2007, nearly 1,000 award applications were submitted from across the country.  King County's Electronic Court Records Program was selected as one of seven winners for its novelty and exceptional efforts, effectiveness in addressing significant problems and potential for replication by other government entities.  The Electronic Court Records program shows that government has the capacity to successfully tackle serious problems while creating efficiencies.

Special appreciation and acknowledgment goes out to all the many, many dedicated professionals that worked hand-in-hand with the Clerk's Office and King County Superior Court to create the ECR Program and embrace the electronic court record as the official record of the court.
