E-Filing in King County is different from the federal and other counties' processes as it is governed by Washington State and King County Local Court Rules. | Washington State Court General Rule (GR) 30: Electronic Filing
- Courts are authorized to adopt a local rule that mandates electronic filing
- The time of filing shall be the clerk's office normal business hours
- Addresses electronic signature formats and methods
- Local rule shall permit paper filing upon a showing of good cause
- Mandates optional electronic working copies functionality
- Electronic service is by agreement only

The following documents shall not be e-filed and must be filed in paper form: - Original wills and codicils, including new probate cases that include original wills or codicils
- Certified records of proceedings for purposes of appeal
- Documents of foreign governments under official seal including foreign and out of state adoption documents
- Documents presented for filing during a court hearing or trial
- Documents for filing in an Aggravated Murder case
- Administrative Law Review (ALR) Petitions
- Interpleader or Surplus Funds Petitions
- Documents submitted for in camera review, including documents submitted pursuant to LGR 15
- Affidavits for Writs of Garnishment and Writs of Execution
- Foreign (out of state) Judgments
- New cases or fee based documents filed with an Order in Forma Pauperis
- Out of state custody and support registration petitions
The following may be e-filed: - Voluminous Documents of 500 pages or more
- Answers to Writs of Garnishment
- Appeals of lower court decisions
