(10 CLE credits for WSBA Members)

The King County Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) offers an educational workshop in which attorneys can earn ten (10) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits approved by the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). The Superior Court Clerk’s Office CLE Workshop held in the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle, covers the principal functions of the Clerk's Office, Ex Parte, and participants’ choice of either Family Court Services or the Arbitration Department.

The workshop is of particular value to those whose practice or work assignments include King County cases. Instruction is provided by DJA supervisors and other subject matter experts. Emphasis is given to sharing "how-to" procedural information with practice tips and suggestions on how to avoid common problems, including errors that might cause avoidable delays or incur feesDJA is instituting a few changes in the workshop for 2009; such as, information regarding the new procedure for presenting Ex Parte matters in writing through the Clerk’s Office. Additional time is provided for demonstrations of Electronic Court Records (ECR) services, E-Filing (with E-Service) and ECR Online, for online access to case files. Participants will learn how to access services online, by telephone, and in-person.

Both legal staff and attorneys are encouraged to sign up for the workshop. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Participants receive course notebooks containing handouts that include detailed process descriptions and practice tips, links to up-to-date forms, important rules and procedures, and much more.

The workshop is held on the first and second Tuesdays (5 hours of instruction each day) of every other month (February, April, June, August, October, December). The tuition fee is $100.00. Enrollees must secure their seats by paying the tuition at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled workshop.
