Transit Improvements
Monday, August 25, 2008
6:00 p.m. - Public Reception 6:30 to 8:30 - Program
Kentwood High School Performing Arts Center 25800 164th Avenue SE Covington, WA 98042
Suburban communities across King County have been growing rapidly, but Metro bus service has not kept pace. Areas such as Covington and Kent's East Hill have exploded from rural villages to full-blown urban centers and the people who live there need more transportation options.
Metro has begun implementing a 10-year plan to expand bus service, including new service scheduled to come online in southeast King County next month.
Please come make your voice heard as we discuss new bus service, Metro's long-range plans, and new challenges facing transit, including falling revenues and the rise in fuel prices. Metro's General Manager, Service Planning Supervisor, and members of the Transit Advisory Committee will provide short briefings.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions, share your thoughts on how bus service could be improved, and provide open public testimony on any issue you choose.
We hope to see you there!
More about Town Halls
The County Council is a regional government committed to engaging King County residents in their local communities. Throughout the year, the Council holds local Town Hall Meetings on issues of public importance. Community members have the opportunity to meet Councilmembers, be briefed by local and regional experts, and provide public testimony.
Each Town Hall is a special meeting of the Council's Committee of the Whole (COW), the only standing committee on which all nine members serve. COW considers legislation and policy issues of interest to the entire council.
Since 2007, more than 2,900 people have met with Councilmembers at Town Halls held in Federal Way, Shoreline, Burien, Kent, West Seattle, Renton, Redmond, on the Seattle Waterfront, Maple Valley, Sammamish and Seattle's Central Area.
