Council Town Hall Meeting will highlight Equity & Social Justice Initiative

Please join the King County Council for a special Town Hall Meeting on the Equity and Social Justice Initiative: Equity graphic

6:00 p.m. – Public Reception
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – Program

Kent Senior Activity Center (map)
600 E Smith Street, Kent, WA 98030

Study after study shows that the neighborhoods where we live, the color of our skin, and how much money we have dramatically shapes our access to education, health care, and economic opportunities – in turn impacting our health, wellness, and even life expectancy. Even here, in one of the richest areas of the world, continuing inequity profoundly shapes our local communities.

Please join the King County Council in Kent to discuss a major new initiative aimed at promoting fairness and opportunity for all. We will screen a clip from “Unnatural Causes” – a ground-breaking PBS documentary that exposes America’s socio-economic and racial inequities in health. Then, an expert panel will discuss how King County can be transformed into a more just and equitable society.

Presenters and panelists will take questions from the audience. The Council will also take public testimony on any issue at the end of the program.

The Council is a regional government committed to engaging King County residents in their local communities. Town Hall Meetings provide community members the opportunity to meet Councilmembers, be briefed by local and regional experts, and provide public testimony.
