Council approves new ballot drop off boxes in District 4

Summary

“While the number of locations will be fewer than some suburban and rural communities, these drop off sites will be a great benefit to the voters throughout the district.”

Story

The Metropolitan King County Council today approved a plan from the Department of Elections to place ballot drop-off boxes in neighborhoods throughout Council District 4 to increase access to voting.

“I am gratified to see the Department of Elections’ commitment to increasing voter turnout by all means available,” said Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles. “While the number of locations will be fewer than some suburban and rural communities, these drop off sites will be a great benefit to the voters throughout the district.”

Those new locations are:

• Ballard Library
• Broadview Library
• Green Lake Library

With the transition to vote by mail, the Council requested a plan from the Department of Elections to increase the return of ballots by voters. These locations are part of the 43 drop box sites selected as part of the requested plan.

All of these locations will be in place for the November general election.
