von Reichbauer leads recognition ceremony honoring Federal Way United Soccer Association

On Monday October 20th, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer led the Council in a formal recognition ceremony for Federal Way United Soccer Association Teams Reign ’94 and ’93 who captured their first and second national soccer titles this past July.

“The success of these young women reflects what hard work, cooperation, and determination will produce,” said von Reichbauer. “These are the first national championships for Federal Way United teams and both teams came out victorious. There is no more important time to honor the good and positive things going on in our community.”

Federal Way United teams traveled to Virginia Beach, VA this summer to participate in The National Cup a highly competitive tournament which started with nine regional qualifying tournaments in early July, involving 1,400 boys and girls teams from across the country. Federal Way United Reign ’93 Purple coached by James Cecil won the under-14 Super Group championship and national championship. Federal Way United Reign ’94 Purple coached by Pete Shimer and Brian Yorke won the title in the under-13 Super Group and their national championship.

“In a time when our region’s professional and collegiate teams are struggling, it is encouraging to see the success of these young athletes,” said von Reichbauer “Winning national championships is a great accomplishment for the players, their families, our community, and the Federal Way United Soccer Association. “
