Statement from County Councilmember Larry Phillips on the passage of Proposition 1

“By voting yes for mass transit, the voters of this region have reversed course from 40 years of debate and inaction and turned towards a brighter mobility future. Building our mass transit system will save people time and money, help our local economy, clean up our environment, and renew area communities. This is a great step forward, and a proud legacy we will be able to leave our children and grandchildren.

“With the voters’ blessing, we can now begin digging ourselves out of a 40-year transportation hole toward a better, greener transportation future through mass transit.”
