Jan. 15, 2008 South King Fire & Rescue Chief Al Church reappointed to the King County emergency management advisory committeeYesterday the Metropolitan King County Council confirmed the reappointment of South King Fire and Rescue Chief Al Church to the King County emergency management advisory committee. The reappointment for Mr. Church is for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2010. Mr. Church resides in King County Council District Seven, represented by Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer.“Al Church brings extremely high qualifications back to King County’s emergency management advisory committee,” said von Reichbauer. “His educational background and long history of community involvement is remarkable. Al has made a career of keeping our community safe and his work on this committee will help ensure King County is prepared for future emergencies.” Allen D. “Al” Church is the Fire Chief Administrator for South King Fire and Rescue, serving the citizens of Federal Way and Des Moines. Al also serves on the Washington Fire Chiefs Board of Directors. Al has been with the fire service for 30 years, 29 of those spent with Federal Way/South King Fire. He has held every rank and position in the fire department including Fire Chief/Administrator for the past six years. The emergency management advisory committee advises, assists, reviews and comments on emergency management and homeland security issues, regional planning and policies. The committee approves the homeland security allocations and work product. Members represent cities, fire service, law enforcement, hospitals, the Port of Seattle, government, special purpose districts, tribes, utilities, non-profit agencies and the private sector.
