Jan. 29, 2008 Community Little Leagues are a hit in King County’s 2008 Budget Councilmember Ferguson provides funds for area organizationsMetropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson said North King County Little League organizations will receive a financial assist as part of the 2008 King County Budget. “Getting funding to the youth in my district was one of my priorities last year,” said Ferguson. “The goal of this funding is to ensure that more kids will have an opportunity to participate in little league programs.” The 2008 Budget designated $5,000 for ten little league organizations serving District One youth. The recipient organizations include the Kenmore, North Bothell, North Central, North Kenmore, North King County, Northwest, Richmond, Woodinville, Woodinville West, and Northshore Little Leagues. The funds will be allocated to the organizations for discretionary use to fund education, training, equipment purchases, or tuition needs for little league participants. “North Central Little League provides baseball and softball experience for nearly 400 boys and girls throughout our League boundary - and it's all run by volunteers. As such, $500 goes a long way to enhance the experience of our players,” said Chuck Ayers, President of the North Central Little League. “With the season just starting up, this funding is very timely.” “Raising enough money for little league is always on the minds of our Board of Directors and parents,” said Lisa Pyper, President of the North King County Little League. “Every decision made is based on the money available.” Councilmember Ferguson represents District One, which covers North Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Bothell, Kenmore and parts of Woodinville.
