Lake Forest Park Town Hall draws large crowd

Councilmember and Mayor discuss regional issues with citizens at town hall

Citizens came ready to engage Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson and Lake Forest Park Mayor Dave Hutchinson in thoughtful conversation on Wednesday, April 2, at a town hall meeting held at the Lake Forest Park Towne Centre. Nearly 90 people attended the meeting, where Ferguson and Hutchinson addressed issues including the redevelopment of the Lake Forest Park Towne Centre, the Brightwater wastewater treatment facility, regional flooding, and transportation issues including the King County Ferry District and Sound Transit.

“Many issues of regional concern, from flooding in people’s homes to Brightwater, require a coordinated effort by local governments to solve,” said Ferguson, who represents District One, which includes Lake Forest Park, on the King County Council. “I enjoy doing town meetings because of the opportunity to meet fact-to-face with my constituents and discuss how to address these concerns.”

Mayor Hutchinson also addressed questions regarding local Lake Forest Park projects. He discussed the new façade that will be built this month at the Towne Centre, and the opening of the Lake Forest Park Farmer’s Market on Mother’s Day, May 11. He also mentioned the town’s Family Festival on Father’s Day, June 15.

“I am glad we had the opportunity to respond to questions from the community,” said Mayor Hutchinson. “I believe good information was provided, and that citizens appreciated having the chance to voice their concerns.”

In addition to Lake Forest Park, Ferguson’s council district covers North Seattle, Shoreline, Bothell, Kenmore and parts of Woodinville.
