The Council today unanimously approved $443,000 for public health pilot programs designed to ensure that uninsured children have greater access to health care. The programs are part of the Children’s Health Initiative, the County’s effort to link children to comprehensive, preventive-focused healthcare.

Chief Al Church reappointed to the County emergency management advisory committee
Yesterday the Metropolitan King County Council confirmed the reappointment of South King Fire & Rescue Chief Al Church to the King County emergency management advisory committee. The reappointment for Mr. Church is for a three-year term expiring December 31, 2010. Mr. Church resides in King County Council District Seven, represented by Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer.

Reform and accountability top Patterson’s goals as County Council chair for 2008
Stronger oversight of county government and the implementation of recently approved tax measures are the top priorities for Council Chair Julia Patterson, who today gaveled in her first meeting as the 2008 Chair of the Metropolitan King County Council. She is the first chair of the Council from a district outside Seattle since 2001.
