Nov. 2, 2007 Public hearing Nov. 8 on proposed budget and work plan for King County Ferry DistrictThe King County Ferry District Board of Directors is inviting the public to speak at a public hearing on the District’s proposed 2008 budget and work plan for operation of local waterborne transit for county residents.
The public hearing will be held:
Thursday, November 8 2:00 p.m. King County Council chambers 10th floor, King County Courthouse
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider proposed alternatives for the Ferry District's 2008 budget and work program, and potential authorization of a property tax levy.
The King County Department of Transportation is scheduled to transmit options for providing waterborne transit services to the District, including proposals for operations, capital and financial plans. Among the options under consideration are passenger-only ferry service for Vashon Island, year-round operation of the Elliott Bay Water Taxi between West Seattle and downtown Seattle, and demonstration projects to various parts of the county.
The Metropolitan King County Council created the King County Ferry District on April 30 to expand transportation options for county residents through provision of waterborne transit services. All 9 members of the County Council sit as the King County Ferry District Board of Directors. The Board is expected to vote on the budget and work plan for the District no later than the end of November.
