NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
2008-0377
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan King County Council will hold a public hearing on the 10th floor of the King County Courthouse, Seattle, Washington on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. The purpose of this hearing is to consider adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2008-0377 relating to public transportation; revising rates of fare.
Summary
Proposed Ordinance 2008-0377 amends the King County Code 28.94.015 to increase regular adult bus fares by 25 cents. The weekend/holiday all-day pass and the weekday all-day pass would each increase by 50 cents. These fare increases would take effect October 1, 2008. Youth and senior fares would not be changed. The reason for this change is to provide Metro Transit with additional revenue to offset a portion of the higher-than-budgeted cost of diesel fuel.
Proposed Ordinance 2008-0377 also amends the King County Code 28.94.015 to increase the ACCESS paratransit fare by 25 cents and the monthly pass price by $9.00. These fare increases would take effect January 1, 2009.
Proposed Ordinance 2008-0377 amends the King County Code 28.94.245 to increase by $175,000 the annual amount of subsidy for discounted tickets that are made available to human service agencies for the needs of low-income and homeless individuals.
