METROPOLITAN KING COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Proposed Ordinance 2009-0433

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing will be held before the Metropolitan King County Council, Room 1001, King County Courthouse, Seattle, Washington, on the 5th day of October, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., to consider adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2009-0433, authorizing the transfer of two parcels of King County-owned property to the City of Kent.

SUMMARY

Proposed Ordinance 2009-0433 would authorize the Executive to sign an interlocal agreement with the City of Kent to transfer two parcels of land that provide essential drainage facilities for the City’s S.E. 240th Street. The County acquired the parcels as part of a road improvement project. The City subsequently annexed the area and took ownership of the road right-of-way, but the two parcels were not transferred to City ownership at that time.

Kent annexed parcel 162205-9127 (approximately 2.34 acres located between 12126 S.E. 240th Street and 12240 S.E. 240th Street) as part of the DeMarco annexation, effective June 27, 2001. Kent annexed parcel 222205-9009 (approximately 4.96 acres located east of 13215 S.E. 240th Street) as part of the Meridian Valley annexation, effective July 1, 1997.

The City is willing to take ownership of the parcels and has agreed to maintain them as drainage facilities essential to operation of the city street. Both properties have been declared as surplus to the needs of the County.

A copy of Proposed Ordinance 2009-0433 will be mailed upon request to the Clerk of the Council, Room W-1039, King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104, telephone 206-296-1020.

DATED at Seattle, Washington, this 23rd day of September, 2009.
