| METROPOLITAN KING COUNTY COUNCIL NOTICE OF ADOPTION Ordinance No. 16686 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan King County Council (the Council) held a public hearing in the Council Chambers on the 10th Floor of the King County Courthouse (516 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA) on Monday, October 26, 2009, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The purpose of this public hearing was to consider adoption of Proposed Substitute Ordinance 2009-0473 (Ordinance 16686) relating to compliance with the federal National Flood Insurance Program.
SUMMARY: Proposed Substitute Ordinance 2009-0473 amends KCC chapter 21A.55 to: - Apply restrictions on the storage of recreational vehicles within the flood zone,
- Broaden the types of data that the County may use to delineate flood hazards to ensure that the best available data is used, consistent with federal law,
- Allow fill to be placed in sub-grade crawl spaces without providing compensatory storage, in order to provide an incentive for owners to eliminate such crawl spaces and receive lower insurance rates, and
- Specify that licensed land surveyors must complete FEMA elevation certificates to conform to applicable State requirements.
