NOTICE OF ENACTMENT - ORDINANCE 15909

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan King County Council adopted Ordinance 15909 on September 24, 2007. King County provides this notice of adoption and enactment pursuant to RCW 36.70A.290(2)(b).

SUMMARY

Ordinance 15909 allows the establishment of agriculture related special needs camps for youth with disabilities or medical conditions in the agriculture production district and amends King County Code (KCC) Chapter 21A.

Among the changes to King County Code (KCC) Chapter 21A, are the following provisions for agriculture-related special needs camps:

Ø Camps must be singularly owned by one legal entity and at minimum 500 acres in size;

Ø Camps may not contain more than 10% of impervious surface and structures must be clustered within an area no greater than 50 acres;

Ø Camp activities shall be limited to those that are compatible with agriculture or place minimal stress on the site’s agricultural resources;

Ø Camp activities may include passive recreation, training of camp personnel, special events for families of campers and agricultural education for youth;

Ø Camp sites may be used to provide agricultural services to the local community;

Ø Camp activities are not to generate adverse traffic impacts;

Ø Camps will not have access to new sewer services;

Ø Lighting for camps should not be invasive on adjacent properties; and

Ø A farm plan will be required for commercial agricultural production at camps.
