IT organization study
Purpose:
Conduct a study that will identify potential countywide IT organization models that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of IT services, IT management, and IT staffing. Evaluate and recommend a preferred model based on a quantifiable business case.

Overview:The King County Technology Strategic Plan calls for review of the organization of technology functions. The Plan sites a great need to align standards, processes and procedures throughout the Countys technology functions, to ensure operating effectiveness and efficiency. The County Council by proviso required that the IT Organization Study produce countywide vision and goals for information technology and a quantifiable business case that evaluates several options for reorganizing information technology functions countywide.
Quarterly status:Last quarter
The consulting firm of Pacific Technologies, Inc. (PTI) completed analysis of candidate organization models and their recommendation for a future countywide model based on an accepted evaluation criteria. PTI developed a quantifiable business case contrasting the costs and benefits of the recommended model to the status quo.
Next quarter
The consultants recommendation and business case will be included in the final PTI report. The final report will be provided to the countys IT governance groups with the completion of the Executive recommendation report.
