| >>> About REPC Vision Statement: We envision a cost-effective communications network that helps public safety responders and other users to do their jobs more effectively, efficiently, and safely wherever they work. Mission Statement: The Mission of the REPC is to develop and support an agreed upon, mutually beneficial regional proposal to improve the ability of emergency response and government agencies to communicate with one another effectively and efficiently, especially during incident response: to exchange voice and/or data with one another on demand, in real time, when needed, and as authorized. The REPC will do this by: - Supporting the development of a proposal for a three-county wireless communications network that when implemented will:
- Provide acceptable service to areas that now have little or no service, and to additional areas as they grow;
- Replace equipment that is reaching the end of its useful life and is facing an increase risk of failure or the withdrawal of vendor support;
- Add cost-effective voice and data services that help users work more effectively, efficiently, and safely wherever they work
- Adopting plans for funding, operating, maintaining, and governing the network; and
- Advocating for the implementation of its proposal and plans no later than _____.
Goal Statement: Our goal is to have a three-county, standards-based voice and data network that: fully meets the local and regional communications needs of users, including those travelinghere to assist us; and performs as a single network. Guiding Principles: The Next Generation Network will: - Focus on cost-effective solutions.
- Improve upon the level of voice operability and interoperability that exists today.
- Define and begin to implement a regional strategy for interoperable data communication.
- Provide a transition path from the current system to next generation technology that does not interrupt or degrade service for any user.
- Provide a reasonable path for responding to technology and regulations changes likely to take place during the life of the system, expected to be 12-15 years.
- Estimate costs based, at least in part, on the total costs of ownership, including both capital and non-capital costs.
- Fund at least the initial upgrade of the King County networks.
- Be operated, maintained, and governed as a single, upgraded, integratednetwork.
Decisions about the Next Generation Network will be: - Mutually agreeable and, as a whole, mutually beneficial to all.
- Made based upon their impact to public safety and other public communications in the Region, as well as upon their impact on individual jurisdictions and agencies.
- Open to all stakeholders and decisions will be made transparently.
