King County Employee ID/ORCA cardholders rules of use

As a King County Employee ID/ORCA card holder, you agree to the following:

  1. You understand that the King County Employee ID/ORCA card is owned by King County and it has been provided to you for your personal use only. You agree not to sell or transfer your assigned Employee ID/ORCA card to another person. If you violate these terms of use, your Employee ID/ORCA card may be blocked from further use.
  2. You will keep your assigned Employee ID/ORCA card secure and in good condition, and you will immediately report a lost, stolen, or damaged Employee ID/ORCA card to:

    Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

    You understand a lost Employee ID/ORCA card will be replaced and you will be charged a $25 fee. If possible, please bring exact change. A nonworking Employee ID/ORCA card will be replaced, free of charge. If your pass was stolen, bring a copy of the police report number (provided by the police department) and there will be no charge to replace your Employee ID/ORCA card. A new card will be issued immediately.
  3. You shall return your assigned Employee ID/ORCA card upon request or when you leave your employment or otherwise no longer meet the eligibility requirements of your employment with King County. If you do not return your Employee ID/ORCA card, you understand that it will be blocked for further use.
  4. You understand that your Employee ID/ORCA card is valid for the following services:
    • 100% of fares on regularly scheduled transportation service on Metro Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit express bus, Seattle Streetcar, Link light Rail, Sounder Commuter Rail, Kitsap Foot Ferry, and King County Water Taxi.
    • $45 of monthly vanpool fares on vanpool services provided by Metro Transit, Community Transit, Kitsap Transit, and Pierce Transit.
  5. You understand that the Employee ID/ORCA card is not valid for fare payment on transportation services not specified above and you are responsible for paying any additional fares required for services not covered, or not fully covered, by your Employee ID/ORCA card.

    If you regularly travel via transit with a family member, we recommend a separate card.  You may also want to purchase a spare card for your household to make it available to guests.  See orcacard.com for purchasing a personal card.
  6. You understand that any additional ORCA Products you load onto your assigned Employee ID/ORCA card will become the property of King County that owns your Employee ID/ORCA card and it may not be refunded and/or transferred to a new ORCA card.
  7. You understand the ORCA system will record data each time you use your assigned Employee ID/ORCA card.  Data will include the date, time and location of the card when it is presented.  You understand this data is owned by the transit Agencies and is accessible to King County, the owner of your Employee ID/ORCA card.
  8. You understand that the Employee ID/ORCA card must be “tapped” on a card reader to show proof of fare payment or issuance of a valid fare. Merely showing the Employee ID/ORCA card on a bus, train, ferry or light rail vehicle does not constitute proof of fare payment or issuance of a valid fare. You will be subject to a fine if the Employee ID/ORCA card is not “tapped,” and you understand you will be personally responsible for any fines that may be imposed.
  9. You understand that for the correct fare to be recorded, you must “tap” off on a card reader when exiting some transit systems. For example, you must “tap” off when exiting from a Sounder train or link light rail.
