Independence Day holiday closures and service impacts

King County government offices will be closed to observe Independence Day. Independence Day is on July 4.
If July 4 falls on a Saturday, Independence Day will be observed the Friday before. If July 4 falls on a Sunday, Independence Day will be observed the Monday after. All offices will be back on a normal schedule the following day.

In 2024, Independence Day will be on Thursday, July 4.

Transit

• Buses and transit will run on a Sunday schedule, with extra late night service. 
• Water Taxis
  • The West Seattle to Seattle Water Taxi will run on a Sunday Schedule.
  • The Vashon Island to Seattle Water Taxi will not run.
• Metro offices will be closed. This includes customer service, lost and found, and pass sales.

Courts

District Court, Superior Court, and the Superior Court Clerk’s office will be closed.

Other services

• Solid waste facilities and transfer stations will be open.
• Contact your garbage collection service provider for information on collections.
