Oct. 5, 2009 Wells Fargo Partners with the PAO Combatting Elder Financial FraudOn October 19, Dan Satterberg will kick-off the PAO's sixth annual Elder Abuse Conference, which convenes law enforcement, Adult Protective Services, medical experts, healthcare providers, and financial organizations from around the state to explain, explore, and train professionals to better recognize, investigate, and prosecute crimes against elderly or other vulnerable victims. The PAO wants to thank and recognize Wells Fargo Bank for serving as a corporate sponsor for this year's event. Wells Fargo's involvement in this conference marks the beginning of an important partnership and is the first of what the PAO hopes to be an emerging trend. By partnering with the banking industry and other financial institutions, the PAO hopes to increase awareness among bank employees on how to recognize signs of potential elder fraud cases because bank employees are often in the best position to witness suspicious financial activity in the accounts of elderly customers. This increased awareness will hopefully lead to increased protection against fraud for our elderly population and increase prosecution of these cases.
