June 4, 2009 Prosecutors and Police Prepare to Crack Down on BurglariesThe King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (PAO) is partnering with police to launch a new initiative -- Repeat Burglar Initiative (RBI) -- to more aggressively prosecute high-impact burglary suspects. The new initiative is in response to a growing concern within our community about residential and commercial burglary, an area of crime that significantly affects the quality of life for King County citizens. RBI comes on the heels of the PAO's highly successful Car Theft Initiative (CTI), which reduced the number of reported car thefts in King County by 53% over the past three years. RBI will work closely with the CTI team and various police networks throughout King County to target and aggressively investigate and prosecute the most prolific burglars. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (DPA) Maurice Classen will lead this important and exciting effort. To review some recent examples of prolific burglary cases, click this link. Return to the News |
