State v. Cruse:   Defendant Rex Cruse (age 54) was convicted of two counts of Rape of a Child in the First Degree and two counts of Child Molestation in the First Degree for his repeated sexual abuse of a four-year old girl living in his home.  The defendant will be sentenced in January, and faces a standard-range sentence of 20 to 26 years in prison.  DPA Christine Keating handled the prosecution of this case.

State v. Joslin:  Defendant Melissa Joslin was convicted of 18 counts of Theft for a complicated employee embezzlement scam she ran in 2005.  The evidence in this case included hundreds of complex bank records, ledger sheets, and other accounting documents.  The defendant now faces a standard range sentence of 43 - 57 months in prison.  DPA Emily Petersen handled the prosecution of this case, which included sorting through voluminous boxes of complex financial records.

State v. McClain: Defendant Joseph McClain was convicted of one count of Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree for shooting a man in the back of the head after attempting to collect a past drug debt and for shooting two other men.  The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced later this month, and faces a potential sentence of 90 years in prison. Senior DPAs Nelson Lee and Steven Kim handled the prosecution of this case.

State v. Muir: Defendant David Muir was convicted of Burglary in the First Degree--Domestic Violence for breaking into his estranged girlfriend's apartment and assaulting her in front of her minor child.  The defendant now faces a sentence of 36 months in prison.  DPA Risa Woo handled the prosecution of this case.

State v. Talley:   Defendant Melvin Talley was convicted of two counts of Violation of a No Contact Order and one count of Intimidating a Witness--Domestic Violence for, in part, threatening to chop the victim into little pieces in front of her minor children.  The defendant now faces a sentence of 41 months in prison because, in addition to committing the crimes, he has a history of domestic violence and committed the crimes in the presence of minor children.  DPA Ben Santos handled the prosecution of this case, along with DPA Kim Wyatt, the City of Seattle-King County Domestic Violence Liaison.
